The Our Haven Women’s Gathering was established as a way for the women of the Our Haven Community to come together as women. In current society we are most often separated into small family units. We generally grow up with our mothers and sisters as the only other women in our lives. There are those of us who are lucky enough to also have grandmothers, aunts and sometimes close friends. However, rarely does this amount to community. In reality, society can cultivate toxic relationships between women. The expectation is typically that we are competitive toward one another. At Our Haven we are striving to reject these notions. We wish to come together and rebuild what modern society has torn down. We wish to build each other up. It is our hope that this year’s theme, “We use our light to weave a web” will inspire you to do the same.
Saturday will start with discussion and meditation to get us in the mood for connecting. Then we will work on exploring the Labyrinth, and its connection to us. As we learn about labyrinths, we will talk about their history and connection to women’s mysteries. We will even build a labyrinth of our own! Afternoon activities will heat up with a bonfire basics workshop and an all hands on deck bonfire build. If you can, bring a pair of boots, clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty, and some work gloves. Those of us who are able, may be doing a little heavy lifting. For those who are not of able body, no worry, there is plenty of help you can give. There’s a full schedule just waiting for us, all that’s missing is you! Register today and join us for a fun weekend in the woods! DON'T FORGET!!!

This three day event has a schedule packed with workshops and activities to not only bring us together, but help us evaluate and understand our own relationship with community. This starts on Friday, with an introduction to our theme of Weaving our Web. What do our individual experiences look like? What does it mean to reach out and build a web within your local network of friends and family? How do we overcome common obstacles to making a difference for those we care about? Come join us for the first workshop as we explore and empower each other to define our community and boldly reach out with compassion to one another.
No weekend fun would be complete without a movie night! We will balance out the heavy hitting community building with some light-hearted movie time. Join us for a showing of Fried Green Tomatoes—no girdles or hand mirrors required! We encourage you to bring your favorite fictional females to life by dressing up in their honor. Let’s kick back with this classic movie as we get to know each other a little better. Don’t forget the pitch-in! We will be having a community pot-luck style dinner, so be sure to pack something shareable. After dinner and a movie, we will be gathering at the Main Fire area for a bonfire and a little comradery before hitting the hay on day one. Bring your friends for a fun filled weekend!
Our Haven Women’s Gathering has always been about one thing: building community. Over the last several gatherings, we have been supporting our community of women as individuals, and working to discover and nurture our inner light. We have delved into the darkness and emerged; wings glistening in the sunlight. This year, our event will help us to take the next step. We will focus on honoring the light and learn how to use it to help and connect with others. We will learn the importance of sharing our own light, when to accept a boost from others, and when to hold that light for ourselves. Past events have held a full schedule of discussions and meditations led by the ladies of our community—and this year is no exception! There will be group meditations and discussions about the community and how we relate to those around us. But have no fear, it’s not all deep thoughts and serious conversations. We will also have movie night, bonfire, pitch-in and group activities. The event starts Friday, May 19, 2017 with an opening circle with meet and greet to get you settled. After we’re all unpacked and settled, the fun will begin! Be sure to check our website for the full schedule, and follow us on social media to get future posts detailing the workshops. If you are looking for a good excuse to get out of the city for a weekend and have a little R&R with the girls, this is it! Bring your mom, sisters, friends or co-workers! There will be plenty of fun as we gather on a beautiful 170+ acre nature sanctuary. Mark your calendars and come join us!
