Jain of the Greenwood
Jain began to explore the sacred beyond her childhood choice to find a smarter god. Her personal religious path is Church of the Eternal Research Project because She is driven to study more and deeper into Truth and Love and their Mysteries. She studies and practices Wicca, yoga-as-a-way-of-life, herb witchcraft, eastern non-attachment, tarot, activism-as-a-religious-obligation, drum/dance/chant worship, and lightweaving. She took vows with the Dalai Lama at the Kalachakra for World Peace (in 1999). As a Bard, she sings traditional and sacred songs and chants. She read her first Starhawk book in 1986 and attended her first Pagan festival in 1988. Occasionally she is asked to preach at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Meetinghouse. She has three adult offspring who are smashingly successful, and she is handfasted to a powerful magician who has been her partner for 22 years. She and her partner live in a beautiful historic house that they dedicated as Greenwood Monastery. Her passions include cooperative economics and creating a movement toward alternative local economies. She studied at two universities and ended up with minors in anthropology, mass communications, biochemistry, peace and conflict studies, and a Master’s degree in nonprofit administration called Executive for Public Service. She is enjoying a paid job at the moment as Project Manager for the Plowshares Local Food System Project for Heartland Communities, and she does lots of volunteer administrative work for three organizations where she serves on the board of directors.
